For Immediate Release

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit announces the arrest of two persons believed responsible for the strangulation murder of 15 year-old Dani Jen'e Countryman.

Dani's body was discovered by her sister, Ashley Countryman, in an apartment on Saturday morning, July 28th in Milwaukie.

These two suspects in custody are identified as:

The two subjects in custody for Aggravated Murder are reportedly cousins.

CCSO Major Crimes Unit (MCU) Sgt.Kevin Layng says he is pleased with the swift progress of this murder investigation -- especially with the performance of his Major Crimes Unit investigators, who worked so diligently on this tragic murder investigation. A total of seven MCU investigators were perpetually working on the case.

The lead MCU investigator assigned to this case is Detective Dan Krause -- whose bilingual capabilities and investigative dexterity proved to be exceptionally valuable during this investigative effort.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office wishes to thank the community and media for their generous support of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office during this complex murder investigation. The Major Crimes Unit investigators recognized early on that they would be investigating a large pool of individuals -- a task demanding a large number of difficult interviews and the tedious collection of critical forensic evidence.

The Sheriff's Office hopes these arrests will bring a modicum of relief to the community and the victim's family and friends.

Arraignment in this matter will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 7) in Clackamas County Circuit Court.

Jailhouse photos will be made available as they are obtained.
