Wilsonville salon honored for recycling and waste prevention efforts

Synergy Artistic Salon of Wilsonville has been honored for its extraordinary commitment to recycling and waste prevention. On March 8, owner Michelle Louise received a Distinguished BRAG (Business Recycling Awards Group) membership certificate and recycled glass plaque from the Clackamas County Recycling Partnership.

Distinguished BRAG memberships go to high achieving Clackamas County businesses - those that recycle all relevant materials regularly, prevent waste with at least six ongoing activities, consistently buy recycled products and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.

"Like many other companies, Synergy recycles mixed paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastic bottles, but this company also purchases products that come from companies committed to the environment," said Julane Potter from the Clackamas County Recycling Partnership. She added, "The salon also regularly purchases recycled-content paper products, and buys many items in bulk to avoid excess packaging."

Michelle Louise read about the BRAG program and called for a free waste evaluation. Potter set up the shop with its own outdoor recycling containers at no charge.

The Clackamas County Recycling Partnership is a cooperative of local garbage and recycling companies; the cities of Barlow, Canby, Damascus, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Sandy, West Linn and Wilsonville, and Clackamas County.
