North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) and Clackamas County Parks announce a number of events for community members of all ages taking place now through April 1:
“Wizard of Oz” will be the spring performance from Missoula Children’s Theater on Saturday, April 1, at 3 and 7 p.m. at Mt. Scott Elementary School. The show follows a week of intense rehearsals for local children. For more information, call the recreation office through NCPRD at 503-353-4308.
Big Surf! swim time is open to all at North Clackamas Aquatic Park from noon to 7 p.m. March 27-April 1. Hours for April 4, 6 and 7 are 1 to 5 p.m. Extra Big Surf! swim sessions are Fridays 6 to 9 p.m., Saturdays noon to 7 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 503-557-SURF (7873). Stone Creek Golf Club offers spring golf lessons for groups and individuals at 503-518-4653 or at www.stonecreekgolfclub.net. The club, located south of Oregon City, features a 6,000-square-foot driving range, 75 electric golf carts, a full-service deli and much more. Women’s lessons are beginning in early April.
Community Garden Day takes place at the Milwaukie Center on Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free pH soil testing and individual yard and garden consultations is offered courtesy of Clackamas County Master Gardeners and NCPRD.
The 12th annual Quilt Show “Airing of the Quilts” is Friday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, fro 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Milwaukie Center. Friday’s admission is $3 and Saturday’s is $4. Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket or six for $5 for a queen-size Double Irish Chain quilt. “Happy Earth Day to You” is the theme of the second annual NCPRD poster contest for children ages 12 years and younger. Entries are to be designed on 8 ½- by 11-inch paper to celebrate Earth Day. The deadline is April 10. Place the child’s name, address, phone number and parent’s name on the back of the poster.
BINGO is on at the Milwaukie Center on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30 to 2 p.m. For more information on the Center, call 503-653-8100.
