Press Release from: Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Names of Bicyclist and Vehicle Driver ReleasedSeptember 1st, 2005 7:33 PM The 8 year-old bicyclist who died in the crash is identified as Jason Caleb Wiley, of Estacada. His father, Tim Charles Wiley, 32, was riding a separate bicycle ahead of Jason Wiley at the time of the crash. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee which struck Jason Wiley is identified as Carmela Lynne Shoop, 43, of Estacada. Carmela Shoop's young son, the only passenger in the vehicle, was secured in a car seat in the backseat of her vehicle and was not injured in the crash. Members of the Clackamas County Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Team (CRAFT)responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash. No arrests have been made and no citiations have been issued in this case at this time. Further details will be provided as they are made available. *************PREVIOUS RELEASE********************** UPDATE: Note age correction Deputies Investigating Fatal Accident Involving 8 year-old BicyclistSeptember 1st, 2005 2:11 PM Updated information from the scene reveals the correct age of this victim is 8 years of age. (Not 6 years of age as originally reported.) Additional information reveals this 8-year-old victim was wearing a helmet at the time of this accident. Investigators report this victim child was bicycling with his father when the accident occurred. Investigators report this victim child was riding his bicycle while following his father traveling southbound on South Skinner Road at the time of the accident. It is also reported a Jeep automobile was northbound, at a blind corner, on South Skinner Road when the victim was struck by this northbound Jeep automobile. Also, a young child passenger accompanied the female operator of this Jeep at the time of this accident. No additional injuries reported at this time. This investigation continues and the name of the deceased 8-year-old victim will be released as soon as all notifications have been conducted. *************PREVIOUS RELEASE********************** Deputies Investigating Fatal Accident Involving 6 year-old BicyclistSeptember 1st, 2005 11:58 AM Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies are currently on the scene of a fatal accident involving a 6 year-old boy. Preliminary information is that the boy was riding a bicycle on S. Skinner Rd., between S. Tucker Rd. and S. Habelt Rd., Estacada, when he was struck by a vehicle and killed. The driver of the vehicle does not appear to have been injured. No further information is available at this time. Updates will be provided as they are available. PIO will be enroute to scene on S.
